AgSafe® 20-10-5 Planting Tablets Plus Humus
How AgSafe® Planting Tablets Work
These convenient, easy-to-use fertilizer tablets eliminate the need for measuring small quantities of fertilizers, and provide an environmentally friendly complete plant food which feeds up to two years. Planting Tablets fill the continuing need of all plants for a full range of major nutrients – in addition; supply micronutrients, humus for proper soil building, natural organic boosters, and beneficial soil bacteria for expanding root systems and better nutrient uptake. During the first year of establishment, the demand for plant food is not great in terms of pounds of nutrients, but continuity of availability is critical for the development of healthy roots and vigorous top growth.
As AgSafe Planting Tablets begin to breakdown, surrounding
roots and beneficial soil fungi and bacteria begin to expand due to better soil
conditions from humus additives and organic
supplements. The gradual release of tablet fertilizers are utilized by
soil bacteria and are converted to nutrients that can be absorbed by the root
systems. These absorbed nutrients are
transported throughout the plant by the sap stream. Note: these tablets do not dissolve; consequently, tablets may
retain their shape even after a year or two in the soil, while still slowly
releasing nutrients.
Ammonium phosphates supply quick release nitrogen for the plant to get a rapid start. Ureaform and methylene ureas are the slow-release nitrogen source. Soil bacteria and fungi breakdown these slow-release nitrogen compounds and convert the compounds into a nitrogen ready for plant root absorption. The rate of conversion depends on the soil condition, soil temperature, beneficial bacteria and mycorrhizae levels, and plant species. Adequate quantities of available phosphorus, potassium, and micronutrients complete the formula and provide an ample reserve of all major elements. Humus and organics provide a media for increasing beneficial soil bacteria and mycorrhizae rooting fungi levels to increase. Plant Extracts help to alleviate transplant shock of newly planted trees and shrubs, provide 76 trace minerals, natural soil wetting agents, and growth hormones. Fish Extracts provide other needed organics and natural vitamins. AgSafe® Planting Tablets with the special additives of humus, plant and fish extracts, and beneficial soil and rooting bacteria provide a more complete formulation for better plant growth and development.
Special Advantages

o Planting supervisory time is reduced - count and placement of tablets can easily be verified.
o Root zone tablet placement - eliminates feeding surface rooted weeds and grass.
o Leach resistant properties of tablets – provide better fertilizer utilization and less water pollution.
o Proven Performance over 30 years – millions of Planting Tablets are used by professionals.
Safe, Convenient to use, and Highly Effective
Tablets are environmentally friendly, non-burning, long-lasting, a complete feeding for all species of trees, shrubs, rose bushes, and ground covers. Even where only small area of soil are exposed, such as street tree plantings, tablets can be safely fed to trees. Very little of the tableted nutrients are lost to fixation in acid or alkaline soils. Feeding with tablets can gradually restore foliage color and stimulate better flowering and branching. Granular fertilizers and polymer coated fertilizers can wash off slopes – liquid fertilizers leach away or are rapidly fixed by chemicals and clays in the soil. There can be a risk of burning roots and damaging or killing plants when you continually feed with liquid fertilizers or use high levels of organics. Liquid fertilizer feeding is labor intensive and expensive, especially if it requires feeding every 2 weeks during the growing season.

New Landscape Plantings in Ground
Bare root, B&B, container stock, and ground cover liners. Place the plant into the planting hole. Backfill halfway up the plant root ball area. Place recommended size tablet(s), 6 to 8 inches deep, evenly spaced, beside the root ball area about 1 inch from the root tips. Do Not Place tablet(s) in the bottom of the planting hole. Complete the backfill and deep water soak to activate tablets.
Interior and Outdoor Landscaping Containers and Tubs
Insert recommended size tablet(s) into soil, 4-6 inches deep near container or tub rim. Cover tablets and holes with soil. Azaleas, Rhododendrons, Heather, and other ericaceous plants use half the recommended application rates. Deep water soak to activate tablets.
Established Trees and Shrubs in Landscapes
Make holes in the soil around the drip line area with a narrow shovel, auger, high pressure water jet, or a special tablet step tool. Insert the recommended size tablets into holes around drip line areas and about 6-8 inches deep. Generally, apply one 21 gram size tablet for every ˝ inch of tree trunk diameter –or- one tablet for every foot of plant height or spread. Cover tablets and holes with soil. Deep water soak tablet areas.
